What do you think Secretary of State Kerry should do now in light of the Palestinian Authority's new so-called "unity government?"?

The recent formation of a so-called "unity government" for the Palestinian Authority comprising Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah faction (itself the main faction of the PLO, itself a terrorist outfit), and the Islamist terrorist outfits Hamas and Islamic Jihad, in my view, should raise questions in even the minds of the enthusiasts of what has been called the Middle East "peace process." In a piece that appeared yesterday at the American Thinker website, Ken Blackwell and Bob Morrison questioned why American foreign policy continues to pander to and pay off a force bent on Israel's destruction:

I'd be happy at this point if we stopped, and that might happen. We have a long standing policy on not aiding terrorist organizations, and by aligning the two, Hamas and Fatah, we no longer can pretend that they are not terrorist organizations. And all aid to them should stop immediately.

But there is no sense in overlooking the fact that we are still faced in this country with strong anti-Israel and anti-Jewish feeling that would make that difficult. There are many who still prate of disproportionate Zionist influence and want us to support the 'poor' Palestinian.

Almost no one has ever thought there was any chance of a peaceful solution to the problem of a losing people wanting it all back and more, maybe we do need to just let them go and let Israel do what it does best, win wars against a people who keep looking to others to do their fighting for them.

Nothing. He must be the dumbest Secretary of State we have ever had judging from his press conferences where he quotes people on Twitter rather than get the facts about the Ukraine. He actually never verified that letter allegedly requiring Jews to register in eastern Ukraine, something the Kiev government did to make Russians look bad.

When Israel did not keep its agreement to release the rest of the prisoners, the PA was probably angry and exasperated with Israeli intentions and called for unity with Hamas. Israel does not want this unity because unity is strength. Israel was happy keeping them apart for all these years, giving the PA money, waging a propaganda war against Hamas while having them under its control.

Israel knew this would happen so they can blame the Palestinians for breaking up the discussions. Meanwhile, they continue to build settlements which is one of the problems but the west does not report this, only that the Palestinians ruined negotiations. Same old trickery by Israelis but they always manage to out-fox the Palestinians.

Now Israelis say they cannot deal with the PA because Hamas are terrorists. Yeah, terrorists who manage social services inside Gaza. Terrorists who won the 2006 presidential election and were conned into living in Gaza under Israeli control. Terrorists who defend themselves with old rockets after Israel attacks them. It is probably true that Hamas fires off rockets in reaction to political events in Israel, not just in defense.

What Israel can do now is withhold salaries from government employees in the W. Bank or cut off some electricity to Gaza, or reduce water allotment in the W. Bank. Israel can screw with Palestinians in many ways to get the PA to break with Hamas. We have seen this movie before.
