can the rangers beat the penguins?

im a rangers fan and it looks like they would play the penguins if they win their series against the flyers. not to look past the flyers and blue jackets i still think they have a chance to come back and win their series. and as a rangers fan i would almost rather play the penguins. the blue jackets come to play and their goalie can steal games. i think the rangers have a good chance against the penguins. they played well against them in the regular season. and their goalie tends to not play well in the playoffs. the rangers could give them a run for their money because they already play well against the penguins. a combination of that and a goalie playing bad could put the penguins in a whole.

do you give the rangers a shot against the penguins?

Yes the Rangers have a shot against the Penguins.

Lets start with goaltending. Fleury has not always been a good playoff preformer, usually his defense helps bail him out. However Lundqvist, has proven himself at all stages in the game (NHL Playoffs and Olympics).

    Winner: Rangers

Now on to Defense. This is a pretty close match up and a toss. The Penguins have been injury plagued all season using several young untested guys that have proven themselves. The Rangers have a solid defensive core. The Top 4 Deference on each team are pretty much about equal skill wise. Both of these teams have shutdown defenders that can stop each others scorers.

    Winner: TIE

Finally Offense. Lets compare just the first lines of each team to start with PIT: Kunitz-Crosby-Stempniak NYR: Nash-Stephan-St.Louis. Pittsburgh has the best center in the game today that makes the players around him better, no doubt about that. Kunitz has had a career year, most people attribute this to be playing with Crosby. NYR has a solid first line but it does not equal the Penguins first line.

    First Line Winner: Penguins

Now lets do the depth offense. NYR has the speed and quickness (Hagelin and Zucc). Pitt has the depth scoring ability and skill (Malkin and Neal). Neither of these teams really have the power dominance.

    Depth Offense Winner: TIE

If this series does occur I expect it to be a hard fought series. Yes the Rangers have a real shot against the Penguins. Everything would have to go right for each team/ I personally think the Rangers would defeat the Penguins in either 6 or 7 Games.

Anything is possible, assuming the Penguins finish the deal against Columbus. The thing is that Fleury is very iffy in the playoffs. This has been proven the last 4 years with 2 first round exits, and a near miss last year. The Rangers have a speed team, and the Penguins have trouble dealing with that. And btw I'm a Pens fan.

Yes of course. Look at what the Pens did against the Bruins last year.
