Is it possible to delete Apps on Windows 8.1?

There are apps like Games that I will never use on my new Toshiba Satellite. Those include the various games. I tried right clicking them then delete. That just took me to "Programs" in the Control Panel.

Apparently Apps are not programs so there is no way I can see to erase them.

Any ideas?

Usually the apps which come with Windows 8.1 (which aren't system related) can be uninstalled by right clicking and selecting 'Uninstall' but as you say it's opening the desktop 'Uninstall Programs' window it might be worth checking the list to see if the program you want to uninstall is in there. Windows has all sorts of mysterious ways of handling things and I think you've rediscovered one of them! Another way is to search 'Uninstall Applications' on your windows search feature. It should say something like 'Uninstall applications to clear up disk space'. Which should open the settings app with a list of metro apps to uninstall.

The Windows 8.1 Start screen is loaded with shortcuts to pre-installed apps you may not want or need.
