Looking for a lightbulb tester?

Hi!

Lately one sees a lot of LED lightbulbs for sale. Some of them are quite expensive and make claims that they only use a fraction of watts compared to other bulbs. My question is.Is there such a gadget where one screws in a lightbulb flicks a switch and on a displaypanel or dial it will show the actual power consumption of the lightbulb?

Please reply.

Light bulbs and appliances are rated accurately as to their wattage consumption. If the bulb says it uses 15 watts, then that is what it uses. There is no need to test or question that. It would be pointless to waste your time or money on testing.

I have a device called Kill A Watt. It's a power usage monitor/tester the size of a paperback book. You plug it into a wall outlet and plug in an electrical device. Like a fan. You can run the fan of low, medium and high and it will give you the wattage used. LEDs are very low wattage and may not show up accurately on such a device. I use LEDs for a lot of lighting applications and they do in fact use a lot less energy. LEDs by nature of their design just can't use a lot of power. Granted, there are high power LEDs, but they cost a lot more too. I've purchased them retail and directly from China and after several years of use, they're still operating. A few flicker occasionally but not all the time. Since I'm on a solar system, I decided LED lighting was necessary and they've been a stellar choice for me.
