There none addictive and generally non toxic...LSD and shrooms and peyote that is...
While I do believe that there should be some kind of control, to stop people from doing harm to themselves for the sake of their own good. I believe the single most important thing when it comes to which drugs should or should not be legalized is how easy it is to overdose and die from them or cause death in general. Cause whats worse then death?
Alcohol has a generally pretty low threshold when it comes to how much you can drink and die from it. Tobacco causes 400k deaths a year in america and even caffeine kills 2k to 4k people a year.
No one has overdosed and died on marijuana, LSD, shrooms, DMT or peyote, anybody thats says otherwise is either lying or just plain wrong.
I believe we should legalize these types of drugs and people who are irresponsible and do dumb stuff on them (driving) should be punished.
Drinking and getting drunk is perfectly legal. But drinking and driving is not. Makes perfect sense. So why can't responsible users in the safety of their own home with sitters be able to enjoy what these drugs have to offer?

A big part of the stigma comes from the risk someone who is hallucinating can pose to the general public. If you're sitting in your own home, that's one thing. If you're out on the street somewhere and suddenly attack a pedestrian because you believe they're a zombie trying to eat your brains, that's another matter all together.

Some people hate anything that they consider undeserved fun. They have what's called "a Puritanical streak." Often these people are opposed to alcohol use for the same reason.
Some people are afraid of the side effects. They know that some people have had very bad consequences from using such drugs and think we need protecting from them.
Personally, I don't care what you do as long as you don't hurt anybody else.

Because drugs such as LSD were viewed as deleterious to Western middle class societal values. Despite a history of positive results of judicious use under controlled circumstances, LSD was declared a "Schedule 1" in 1966, entailing that the drug has a "high potential for abuse" and is without any "currently accepted medical use in treatment".
LSD and Cannabis largely took the blame for the 1960's counterculture movement because it was easier to blame a substance than it was to look at the real problems plaguing society and government at the time.

They probably shouldn't. Certain actions, such as driving under the influence of hallucinogens, should be illegal though.
