I was laid off from 2 different teaching jobs in the last two years. I'm now terrified to interview? Any help?

I was not fired, I just want to let you know BUT it feels like it. I am a special education teacher, mainly for high school and middle school. I am a great teacher and a hard worker. But I was the newest teacher and I got caught in downsizing.

Depression and doubt have completely taken over but now I'm worried I will not be able to teach, or get a job.

I am confused any help from teachers would be really helpful. It's very hard to be kicked out of your profession two years in a row when you just started, you know it's not your fault, but you can't do anything about it.

Teaching is the only thing I know.

10 points to anyone who can give me top ten most important things teachers need...

    You might consider

    1. This is about communication and rebuilding your confidence

    2. Approach your local council education department for help in getting out there again in the teaching field, either in a part time voluntary capacity or a long term teaching post.

    3. Perhaps considered part time teaching and part time study to further your aspirations and career ambitions, that way you will meet new like minded people, and perhaps get opportunities through this.

    4. Approach your local Chamber of Commerce for business and training opportunities

    5. Network with like minded people, or consider registering with a specialist agency related to your skills a teaching qualifications.

    6. Take a gap year, do something for you, and return when you are ready and refreshed.

I would suggest substitute teaching. Then, you will have contacts with lots of people in different schools. If there is a job opening, you know they usually lean toward someone they already know. So, you can be that person.

Then, find someone you know in the industry and talk with them. Consider talking with one of the administrators where you already worked, and line up your questions. Explain that you realize this was just downsizing, but that you aren't certain just what to do. See if they have any advice. You can also ask if there are any suggestions in regards to your teaching style that you could improve upon.

I am not certain what you mean by: "top ten most important things teachers need...".

Start networking. Even social media sites like LinkedIn provide information information on openings. Make sure to apply when you find one, even if it means moving out or working miles away from where you are.
