Need help with a second bedroom!?

I decided to stay in my 2 bedroom apartment, but I will have no one in my second bedroom for the next year! Rather than waste the space, I'm trying to figure out what to do with it! It has just a small closet, and currently has a full-size bed (which can go away). The room itself is 11x10, with one window, base board heat under the window, which is across from the closet and door (on the 10 foot wall). It currently also has a drafting table, which I can repurpose as a desk. Since my brat never actually sleeps on her bed when she's home (and she won't be for a year, and even then just for a few weeks), I don't care about keeping the bed, but I'm not opposed to getting a day bed in there, esp if it has extra storage. I have a huge living room and a huge master bedroom with a walk-in closet, so I don't need to repurpose for any of these, and it's too cold in there to put a desk under the window.

While I'm a bit handy, I left my tool belt behind, so I need simple ideas that I can do myself. I guess the only thing I need to keep in there is the drafting table, a large, tall book shelf (since she won't get rid of her books), and a dresser, which can be used for craft storage. It won't fit in the closet, unfortunately! HELP!

The day-bed is a good idea; then swap the drafting table with a self-made smaller desk with one side fixed to the wall and just two front support legs which can either be used for the computer or as dresser. Swap the huge book shelf with planks fixed on different levels on the walls to store her books and other knick-knacks and add an attractive mirror to the wall.
