What does this dream symbolize?
Last night I had a dream I was at my university in an auditorium watching some kind of show, I wasn't sure what it was all about but it was either some kind of speech or presentation. All the seats in the auditorium were filled so I went up to the projector room at the top of the arena to get a place to sit. When I get there, my best friend, a couple people I knew from high school that never played a big role in my life, and an old friend that I split ways with (it was a bad split by the way, still a little torn about it). While I'm in the room, everyone keeps ignoring the ex-friend or giving him one word replies and you can see the sadness in his face. I felt bad in my dream for ignoring him, but I knew we are past the point of working things out. He then leaves the room, moments pass, and I see a fight break out on the center stage. I turn back to the room and I notice the only one left is my best friend, everyone else vanished. I never saw them leave the room. I turn back and I start hearing gun shots being fired and people screaming and there was a woman on the ground in front of me that I never knew who was bleeding from a gunshot wound. A man was with her trying to help her. I look away to my friend as a "What the hell is going on" kind of way. I look back at the woman and she's just a severed head and it freaked me out. After that, the gunshots started getting louder and louder, as if they were getting closer and closer to our room, but I never saw any gunmen.
I close the door and just me and my friend are very worried about what's going on. I grab on to him and tell him that we are going to get out of this okay. He looked very worried but he knew we had to get out of there. As we're debating making a break for it out of the room, the shots keep getting closer and closer. We decided to barricade the door with a book shelf that was in the room. We then start hearing pounding on the door. We notice a vent large enough for us to crawl through to escape
We start going through the vent and the pounding keeps getting louder, we keep assuring each other we will get out of there. As we go through the vents, the gun shots and pounding is rattling in my brain and I couldn't take it anymore. I woke up and just tried figuring out what it all meant.
I don't remember what happened prior to going to the auditorium but I do recall that the dream was longer than just this.
Insight would be great.

It means you are getting closer to being ok with the loss of the friendship, but still sorting out the details. You went to a show, but didn't watch the show i.e. you don't want this to be out in the open. The other high school friends were there, but didn't mean too much, so they can come and go - they may have had some influence on your relationship to the friend, but they're there to represent things you thought bad about your friend or yourself or the relationship.
When the fight breaks out, your friend is left i.e. when you finish battling with your feelings, you'll be ok with him. The woman who dies, is the death of your bond or death of you holding on to the past, her head remains, because you will keep your head about you instead of feeling other things, it will just be facts when you finally let go. The gunshots show that you are afraid, but there's really no one to be afraid of and nothing really to be afraid of, it's just noise in your head. (The troubles with the friendship, now, is just head noise).

Well, Mike, your dream is very clear, and I noticed at least three clues in the dream: auditorium, a group of friends, and gunshots. Therefore, more than likely, you probably will be going to a movie, or a place with a large group of people including your friends, and someone there will break out and start shooting everyone. Therefore, to prevent this dream of you and your friends being in this dangerous environment, just avoid going to such places anywhere for at least a month. In fact, this month is graduation month, and this dream can easily come true at graduation events, and so forth. Stay home, be safe, and watch the show in television. Otherwise, you may hear about on the news, but please stay at home...such a dream can come true anytime this month.
