1 AnswerNew York City6 years agoMedical Training through Navy vs. Air Force vs. Army? What are the differences? What are the steps?
Hello, I've had my heart set on becoming a doctor since I was a little kid but have always wanted to have that experience of being part of something bigger than myself.
I've always wanted to help people, interned at many hospitals, and even some of the worst wounds don't make me cringe. My grades are average (about a 3.4 but I'm going to try a lot harder this semester), and I'm about to enter my sophomore year in college. I plan on finishing my undergrad before I make any decisions and I'm majoring in Bio-medical Science which is pretty much the same as pre-med but my school offers all sorts so I took this route.
I'd love to be stationed anywhere in the world really, whether in the U.S. or across the Atlantic. I would not like to face combat situations because I don't believe in taking lives, but saving them. I'd like to work with people in third world countries that can't afford medical care (I'm not positive but I hear the Navy and people with the Red Cross are able to do this). I am not very certain I'd be able to live on a ship for a few months at a time though.
I just want to know what are the differences between the 3, when I sign up do I go through med training first or after my service, what kind of training, physical and academic, would I be going through? Which do you think would best work with my type of personality? Do you have any person experience or know anyone who has/ what did you or they think about it?
2 AnswersMilitary7 years agoUsed to do a lot of different types of drugs and nothing is as fun or fulfilling anymore. What can help?
During my high school years, I maintained a 90+ average in all classes, never failed a test or missed a homework assignment. I was a pretty bright kid, never studied or anything, things just came natural. With all the excess time I had, me and a couple good buddies started smoking pot our sophomore year. Nothing out of the ordinary, just some kids having fun. Then my friends began dealing as the year progressed, slowly but surely their market opened up to new things.
Long story short, for the past 2 years I've done multitudes of different types of drugs in all categories. Favorite by far were the hallucinogenics. I never let it take over my life, school still came first, but one day my friend got arrested and that was a huge wake up call to me and my other friends. We decided we'd just stop cold turkey, and we did just fine. It was a little rough at first, but cigarettes helped us switch to something else (stopped smoking too).
Now I'm just going through my life day in and day out and nothing is as fun or interesting or new as it used to be. I miss the adventures, the mind blowing hallucinations that would be all around me. I miss the feeling of not feeling well... normal. I love that altered state, I miss it. It's not so bad that I'd do it again, but I just feel a little empty.
1 AnswerOther - Health7 years agoCan scratching lead to hair loss?
There is this one small spot on my head that always seems to get itchy so I think nothing of it and usually scratch it like it's no big deal.
Recently I've noticed that hair hasn't been growing much in the spot and I'm kind of worried I'm balding.
No one on my mother's or father's side are bald which is why I don't believe it is a genetics thing.
If I stop scratching the area, could the hair grow back? It isn't too noticeable.
What other factors might be contributing to this?
I'm only 18 so I'm kind of bothered by this.
Thanks for any ideas.
1 AnswerHair7 years ago18 dating 16 year old in New York?
I've read so many other questions saying it's a bad idea, but none really matched my specifics.
I've been dating the same girl for almost 2 years now and I'm about to turn 18, she is 16 now. I know it isn't illegal to date someone at this age, but to have sexual intercourse with them. It's not like we haven't had sex in the past, I'm just worried that I could get in some serious trouble if we were to continue. Her family loves me though and I don't see us breaking up anytime, but I'm just worried about what could happen if authorities hear about us. Could only her parents report what we're doing? Should I just stop having sex?? I really don't want it to come to that but I'm in love with this girl.
I just want to know what the smart thing to do is... It doesn't help that I graduated a year early and am going to be a sophomore in college while she's still a junior in high school...
I want honest answers, even if it hurts.
9 AnswersLaw & Ethics7 years agoWhat does this dream symbolize?
Last night I had a dream I was at my university in an auditorium watching some kind of show, I wasn't sure what it was all about but it was either some kind of speech or presentation. All the seats in the auditorium were filled so I went up to the projector room at the top of the arena to get a place to sit. When I get there, my best friend, a couple people I knew from high school that never played a big role in my life, and an old friend that I split ways with (it was a bad split by the way, still a little torn about it). While I'm in the room, everyone keeps ignoring the ex-friend or giving him one word replies and you can see the sadness in his face. I felt bad in my dream for ignoring him, but I knew we are past the point of working things out. He then leaves the room, moments pass, and I see a fight break out on the center stage. I turn back to the room and I notice the only one left is my best friend, everyone else vanished. I never saw them leave the room. I turn back and I start hearing gun shots being fired and people screaming and there was a woman on the ground in front of me that I never knew who was bleeding from a gunshot wound. A man was with her trying to help her. I look away to my friend as a "What the hell is going on" kind of way. I look back at the woman and she's just a severed head and it freaked me out. After that, the gunshots started getting louder and louder, as if they were getting closer and closer to our room, but I never saw any gunmen.
2 AnswersDream Interpretation7 years agoFast paced tech music with heavy bass?
Hey guys, I'm looking for some new artists that play the style of tech that I'm into. Please don't mention skrillex, I've heard enough of him. I like stuff that's decently fast paced with real heavy bass. I'm going to post a couple songs to show you what I'm talking about. The beats are fun, but still pretty heavy.

I still like slow stuff like this too though.
1 AnswerOther - Music7 years agoCommercial where woman beats up man for ripping her dress?
Hey guys, I'm trying to find a commercial where there was a woman that was with her boyfriend in their bedroom when he accidentally rips her skirt/dress/undergarments and proceeds to kick the crap out of him. I need it for a class assignment I'm working on. I tried looking all over for it but could not find it. All I know was that it was some clothing brand that might not even be local to the U.S.
If anyone can find it that'd help me save so much time!
In the video she turns into some black belt that just punches and kicks him as if she's been training her whole life for that moment.
2 AnswersGender Studies7 years agoI got a C in evolutionary biology, should I retake it?
I am a freshman and this was my first semester at college. Anyway, I got a C+ in evolutionary biology and I am a bio major planning on going into med school. Should I retake the course? Reason why I didn't do so well is because I was still adjusting to the whole college scene. All my other classes I did well in, it's just this class that is killing me. Is retaking it a good choice?
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)7 years agoAre There Any Casinos Around Buffalo, New York, that accept 18 years old or older to play? BEST ANSWER 10?
I am not talking about any kind of race tracks. I am only looking for table games like black jack and poker.
The casino has to be 18+, I know there are a few in New York, but I want to find something that's within an hour, hour and a half drive because some are ridiculously far from where I live.
Thanks in advance for answers, best gets 10.
Strip clubs in the area same rules apply too haha.
1 AnswerGambling7 years agoWhat to do when a girl needs space / says she needs time to fix up her life?
I've been seeing this girl for a little while and every time we'd go out, everything would go perfectly. There's never been a dull moment and we really got a good chance to know each other. We'd go on coffee dates, to the movies, I'd make us dinner, more or less things were great. Recently though, she got slower with talking to me, then stopped a few days. Typically I'd text her only once or twice a day, nothing too much.
Anyway, after a couple days of not talking, I hit her up on facebook asking why we haven't been talking so she said that she was sorry she didn't tell me, but she had to clear her life and that something happened that she has to take care of.
I didn't bother to ask what it was, I only told her that she should take her time and that if she ever needed anything she can message me whenever she's ready.
Recently she's been posting a lot of things to this other guy's wall on facebook though. Not message or stuff like that, just inspirational quotes and stuff like that. I have no idea if the guy was her ex boyfriend or what, but he's always posting statuses about how he's depressed. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I just really don't want to lose her.
I just want to know what was the best thing I should do. We're 18 and 19.
I was thinking of just leaving some flowers at her door sometime this week with a note that says
"I hope I'm the first person you thought of" ~ Mike
I just don't want to smother her. Let me know what the best thing to do is. Thanks!
1 AnswerSingles & Dating8 years agoWhy does this girl never reply to me?
I have been on 3 very successful dates with this girl already. First was a coffee date, second was a movie at my place and I also cooked us dinner, and third I picked her up to get some Mediterranean food and just hang out. Hooked up on both 2nd and 3rd dates. We spent nearly 7 or 8 hours together on the 2nd date, it was amazing. At the end of each date I walk her up the steps to her house and she tells me she had a great time and loves spending time with me and such, then hugs and kisses me before she goes in. My only question is why does she never reply to my texts? I don't spam her phone, I text her either once a day or every other day just to stay in touch or plan the next date, and in the rare chance she does text me, she barely says more than a few words. Think I'm worried for no reason here? I really don't feel as if I'm smothering her, but a woman's opinion would be nice.
Oh yeah, I've never called her over the phone before, mostly because I don't wana disturb her at work
2 AnswersSingles & Dating8 years agoKnow Any Good Dubstep?
I'm more into the dubstep/house style of music, when I say that, I mean more alive and the beat bounces in and out instead of long bass drops (picture jumping up and down). I could really use help finding some songs that fall under those guidelines. Here's a couple examples of what I like, if you know of anything close to or similar to these, I'd love to hear!

1 AnswerOther - Music8 years agoCan you press charges on specific people for a crime, but exclude others?
Say there were a couple people involved in a crime that dealt with vandalism and theft. Could the person who had their property damaged specifically choose who they want to press charges on? Or is it an all or nothing kind of thing?

5 AnswersBuying & Selling8 years agoFishing Rod and Reel for a Beginner?
I am new to the whole fishing game and could really use some advise on what type of rod and reel I should be getting. I literally don't know which brands I should look for and what any type of actions or lengths of rods mean for the type of fish I'm trying to catch.
I hear the the Shakespeare Ugly Stik is good for beginners but I'd like to hear what some of your opinions are.
I'm mostly going to be doing some fresh water fishing around Lake Ontario so salmon and bass are definitely what I'm going to be after first.
I'd really like to stay under $250 for the rod and real together.
Also, any tips on what kinds of bait I should be using too?
This is something I really want to enjoy and do for a long time.
Thanks in advance !
9 AnswersFishing8 years agoIs it okay for a senior to date a freshman?
There's this girl I've been talkin to for a few months and there is definately some attraction between us. The thing is, she's a freshman and I'm a senior.
Before you start saying no, hear me out.
I skipped a year of school in elementary school and I'm the youngest senior of my class. Technically I would be a junior right now.
Is it still weird?
Granted these answers probably won't change my mind, I just want to form a consensus.
All my friends think it's still weird though:/
And I'm going to a college only about a half hour away so distance is not an issue.
