18 dating 16 year old in New York?
I've read so many other questions saying it's a bad idea, but none really matched my specifics.
I've been dating the same girl for almost 2 years now and I'm about to turn 18, she is 16 now. I know it isn't illegal to date someone at this age, but to have sexual intercourse with them. It's not like we haven't had sex in the past, I'm just worried that I could get in some serious trouble if we were to continue. Her family loves me though and I don't see us breaking up anytime, but I'm just worried about what could happen if authorities hear about us. Could only her parents report what we're doing? Should I just stop having sex?? I really don't want it to come to that but I'm in love with this girl.
I just want to know what the smart thing to do is... It doesn't help that I graduated a year early and am going to be a sophomore in college while she's still a junior in high school...
I want honest answers, even if it hurts.

Just keep it on the sly, if you can trust in your love there's nothing to worry about. Try and be very sneaky. It's only a two year gap. And depending on the individual 16 IS old enough to have sex. If you're old enough to be in love and keep a relationship, you're old enough to have sex.
And use double protection if you can. At least a condom. I'm sure you're doing that already.

You're good - although she is not legally the age of consent - NY accounts for that age difference even if you are 18. My advice would be to make sure she doesn't get pregnant.

hey
i understand you, and listen it isn't wrong what your doing. You have already had her parents permission in the beginning to be with her. Now the sex part i can't tell you what to do but it should be kept private especially use protection always. If you two are having sex then be careful thats all i can say Especially keep it PRIVATE. Authorities won't find out at all and they can't do anything about it since her parents are ok with you. you shouldn't worry i was 17 when i was dating a friend of the family he was 23 but he was a butthole anyway. =] hope i helped lol

I think it is usually parents who bring those allegations, but you may want to check with an attorney. Make sure you know what your options are.

If you are having any kind of sexual contact, you can be in big trouble. Anything past first base in fact. The fact that you admit here to having sex tells me others know about it. You can end up in jail, even now, and have a sex crime on your record.
Anyone who knows about it can report it.
The smart thing is to stop doing anything but kisses and hugs because you are breaking the law. You say 16 now, that means you started having sex with her when she was just 15.

Why would her parents find out you are having sex with their much younger than you daughter? It is stupid to tell them, even if it your girlfriend who tells them. You are both at the age where sex is a fun thing to do, and it isn't hurting anyone. You wont be in trouble with anyone if nobody finds out. You shouldn't feel guilty either...you aren't raping her... Just use protection, cause if she gets pregnant, you are a dead man.

It is wrong for any 14, 15, or 16 year old C H I L D to be having sex, period.
Are you saying her parents know about this? that to me is called child abuse on their part.

Keep your mouth shut and do. not. tell. anyone, and don't get her pregnant. If you don't think that's possible, wait until she is 17 when it would become legal in New York.

Why should you be worried? Just because you could go to prison for statutory rape?
