rewiring an older house?

i have a 40 year old raised ranch, of approx. 1200 sq.ft. interior dimensions. what would it cost to upgrade from a 100 amp 110v service, to a 220v ,200 amp service. this would include new interior wiring up to 21st century wiring codes. the house has no gfi outlets.

If the walls are stripped to the bare studs and it is vacant then the it comes closer to a new construction bid than a remodel. Remodels are very expensive unless you agree to a T&M contract and have a good contractor doing the work. For new construction to current standards allow a base of $500 for the panel and service entrance plus $100 per box and each room except the kitchen and bath will have 7 boxes. Add the rough costs together and you have a starting point. This is just a rough WAG so get a local qualified professional electrician to do the work.

No one can price it this way. Is the home stripped down to bare studs inside?
