If a lean is put agsinst my house, can I still refinacne?

    And no, not unless you pay off the lien. That is the purpose of a lien.

    'Lien", Usually not, A mortgage is a lien as are property taxes. Its the others you have to be careful about. Mechanics liens, tax liens have been filed in court and show up on credit reports. All need to be satisfied to transfer ownership.

    Check with your Clerk of Courts to see if you have been sued.

    Lien - possibly, this just means that you are unable to sell the property.

    No, you can't refinance without paying the lien. It can be paid by the refi though.
