Should I clip my horses face?
Going to my first APHA show in 2 weeks. My show season normally starts in July so my horse is all shed out by then. He is pretty well all shed out now but his face especially around his ears is still fuzzy. Should I clip it to take out the fuzzy or would that look goofy? He is a bay with a big bald face. I don't think I want to clip the whole face just the outsides of the ears and the fur by his bridle path. Thoughts?? Or would 2 weeks be enough for it to grow back a bit and not look dumb??

I used to show paints with APHA, and they usually want a sleek well-groomed horse.. I suggest not clipping his whole face, but the "trimming up" around the ears is fine. But if you clip too far into the fur, just go ahead and body clip him so it doesn't look awkward.. Haha hope this helped:)

If you want clip around the ears and if he has a bit of beard neaten it, but I wouldn't clip his entire face as it may interfere with the natural growth. It will likely coat out fully in the coming weeks.

i have a pony at my papas and they saiad to me that if there hairs around its ears and if it looks bad then you should trim it just a little bit because so that there is a little bit of hair near there ear. but if there little hairs on its face too then just cut the long pieces and that is it just to make it look nice and neat.
