car wrecked in parking lot?

and my sedan went on two wheels next to a curb. The person that hit me admits fault and their insurance company already sent my car into repairs without my authorization. What the repair shop states is that my alinement is off and there is body damage (that they already are fixing). This doesn't sound right to me. I want a second opinion but the repair shop says I can't because they are already working on the car. My boyfriend says I'm screwed now. The repair shop said they would repair anything that comes up if they determine it is accident related. So what they can say whatever they like after the fact. So internet, can I do anything at this point to protect my car?

How could anyone send your car to a shop for repairs without your authorization ?????? I certainly wouldn't trust them to find and properly repair all possible damage. If they acted without your consent, that is "unlawful conversion" - theft of your property.

It's your car . . . only you can pick the repair facility and authorize repairs. Yes, call your insurance company if you haven't already . . . . and a lawyer if they do not act promptly on your behalf.

ADDED: I assume that you, as owner, have not signed anything - don't ! If the car is in the shop, at some point they're going to ask you pick-it-up - - and they'll want you to sign something that in the fine print says you are 100% satisfied. If so - REFUSE. You not only want to examine the car yourself - - - but take it to the shop YOU choose and have them go over it with a fine-toothed comb.

Passive obviously has No clue how insurance companies work, Some companies only use one repair shop period for all work in a given town or city.As far as just repairing it without you knowing thats a little odd but not uncommon.Obviously they towed to car to there authorized shop and the Company said fix it.I,m assuming you didn,t drive the car away from the accident or they would not have had access to it other wise.I would let your insurance company Know of this as they will insure that the work was done to your satisfaction. But all in all it sounds like this so far has been taken care of properly.I would not have had them tow it without authorization from your insurance company you should have been on the phone with them on the accident site, That is why their Number is on your insurance card.In the future remember this They have people available 24/7 for this kind of thing. Unless you have a fly by night insurance Company.Your agent will tell you what your options are in this situation. But Passive is right on one thing. don,t sign anything that they give you at the Shop. pick it up and drive away.If they try to stop you or say that leaving without signing will void there responsibility or threaten that you will have to pay the Bill not the insurance company, Call your agent right then and there and hand your phone to the shop forman and Your agent will handle this. This is why you have insurnace in the first place. Don,t let them intimidaite you.And don,t get mad.I,m covering all the Bases here.I,m not a trusting Soul But most of the Time they are straight forward.

You don't "authorize" the insurance company to do anything. They're the ones who authorize YOU to have the repairs done. If you didn't want your repairs done at this shop, why didn't you have it moved to the shop you wanted the work to be done?

So instead of sitting back and waiting for someone else to do your job, go get your car. Call them and tell them to stop the work and put it back together and then call a tow truck to move it.

Keep in mind, you'll be paying for them to reassemble the vehicle, and for the additional tow. But you'll have the work done to your satisfaction, if you even know what that is...

Or - you can let them complete the work, and if there's anything wrong, you can point it out and they'll correct it.

Just let them fix it the way they deem best. Your boyfriend is getting all excited over nothing. Accidents happen. Your car is getting fixed. And, chances are you will have many, many, cars and boyfriends in your lifetime. So, just don't worry about it.
