Do I need to remove rocks from backyard to plant grass/garden?

So I have a backyard and I am trying to plant grass in center and veggies and flowers on side. But there are a lot of little rocks. Do I need to remove them to get grass to grow? I already turned the soil but it is still pretty rocky. And they also continue into the planter boxes I have. What's the best thing to do? I know I have to lay some fertilizer for grass. But can I just backfill the ditch and lay the fertilizer ontop of the small rocks? Or just remove the bigger rocks ?

-Yes. Just rake all the rocks- out, BEFORE You plant the grass. Because if You DON'T, the Grass won't grow right, & the lawnmower will be shooting stones All OVER the Place- EVERY time you cut the Grass !! :(

If it's rocks sticking up you defiantly need to remove to prevent the lawn mower or other equipment hitting it. If you have really rocky soil, a lawn would likely not thrive
