Do you think a congressmen who cheats on their taxes should be allowed to stay in congress?

Timothy Geithner and Charles Rangel both owe back taxes yet they are the loudest voices in congress for raising taxes. Is this hypocritical, or just liberal?

There are tax cheats in all walks of life but only in the Democratic party do they achieve--and remain--in high office.

There is a difference between owing back taxes and cheating. We did away with debtors prisons in the 1840s. As long as they are complying with their payment plans, they are obeying the law.

Now it also reminds me of the case of Congressman, Adam Clayton Powell, who preceded Charles Rangel. He was wanted for criminal refusal to pay a judgement on a slander suit, but you cannot arrest a Congressman while Congress is in session. So he represented his district and when Congress recessed, he went to his home in Bimini, which would not extradite him. He was stripped of his seat for excessive absenteeism and irregularities with his expense account, but then re-elected to his own vacancy.

Democracy doesn't guarantee good government, just a popular one.

    They didn't cheat.

And they paid what they owed.
