C++? Computer Engineering?

Is C++ necessary for Computer Engineering? I have friends that told me that they don't need it much. Is that true?

    You will need to know how to program, no way around it; the specific language what you learn can vary. C++ (and its older sibling, C) is okay, Java and C# too. For variety, you can add languages like Javascript, Ruby, PHP, SQL, COBOL, and Haskell.

    Depending on what you work, it's possible you don't need to program (requisite analysis, by instance), but you will know what is possible by programming.
