what disorder or mental disorder that causes a person to sit on floor and spin around?

i watched a tv program about a 14 year old boy whoses mom could not figure out what was wrong with him. he would sit on floor and spin around and make noises, he also would walk around feeling the walls. she ended up taking him to a doctor who knew what he had, they got him on medicine that leveled him out and he had no knowledge of what he did when he finally got medicated. its a rare disorder or mental disorder. one thing that stood out in program was red dye aggravated it. could anyone please tell me if you saw this show on tv or have a name for it.
