John 1:1,2 in the Beginning there was the word and the word was with god and the word was god (KJV) What about the Holy spirit ?

There is no mention of "in the beginning" should we take this to mean that the Holy spirit came about only after the sacrifice of Jesus? I am a bit confused about this.

No, it doesn't mean anything of the sort. If you expect the theological equivalent of a science or math text, you're not going to get much out of this.

John is telling the story of the Word, which (as he says later in the chapter) "became flesh and dwelt among us." Your approach is like complaining that your "Where's Waldo?" book doesn't have any pictures of the Cat in the Hat.

God was the word , the word was god, the word was with God. The Holy Spirit is the comforter that Jesus said he would send ( it is the spirit of God) John 14:16 it tells all about the comforter who he is and where he is. That is why the world doesn't know where Jesus is. It tells you that the world wil see him no more because he is in his people. This world doesn't know that God has sons, that he is working through just like he did Jesus. God the father, God the son, God the Holy Ghost, and these three are one. Can not seperate them. First John 3:7.

genesis 1:26 "let us make man in our image." verse 27 follows up with ."and God made man in his image ."

the Holy Spirit comes from the Father and the Son.

when speaking to a Jehovah witness ask them what god is the word as in their interpretation of 1:1 and if the word was made flesh who was he . you cannot serve 2 gods.

    The Holy Spirit is God.

    1 John 5:7

"For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

    .

The very first words in the Bible spoken by Jesus are = IN THE BEGINNING GOD - and in the second verse, we have the Spirit moving on the waters.

The name "God" is translated from the Hebrew "Elohim" which is plural,

    and as such means:

    God the Holy Father

    God the Holy Son

God the Holy Spirit - thus proving the Godhead (or Trinity)

And the word ‘God’ actually occurs over 3100 times in the Old Testament

This has nothing to do with Jesus either. Tell me were Jesus is called "the word" anywhere in the Old Testament. It is NOT there. And the Holy Spirit...who is Gabriel...was sent by Jesus to Muhammad for God's final word in the Quran.

Oh for heavens sake! Just because the subject matter here is limited to just the relationship between the Father and Son in no way means that the Holy Spirit is not part of the Trinity. All the verses are revealing here is that Jesus is the Word of God as God. We use other verses to prove that the Holy Spirit is also God, Then we put them together to eventually form the doctrine of the Trinity.

    Book of Genesis, Holy Bible

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters

The Holy Spirit is God's active force which God always had and always has. It's not mentioned in those particular verses because it was talking about Jesus and God. It is understood that his force was always with him.

you can just look in Genesis1 "And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters."
