Call the cops...
It might not be for the Bike... think about it, someone that did it do not only did it to one person.
You will help a lot people there...

Your Dad paid him to steal your bike. Duh, two problems solved. Got rid of the bike. Taught you a lesson. Call the cops and let them sort it out. Surprised your Dad didn't call the cops, which is why I suspect that he had something to do with it.

The guy STOLE the bike. HE doesn't have a Title EITHER !
Both you and your Father know he took the bike . You KNOW who he is and that he lives nearby.
Too , you KNOW who YOU got the bike from.
Did you BUY the bike from your friend? Do you have ANY proof of purchase ? Have you contacted HIM about any original paperwork and documented ownership ?
Your hands AREN'T "tied"....make a Police report !
I suspect you told this guy you had no title when you showed him the bike , and he sized you and your Dad up as an "easy mark" to "rip you off". Clearly, it was theft by deception !
If you REALLY want "justice" , CALL THE COPS. They will get to the bottom of ALL of this.
If you were willing to SELL the bike , but now claim to be too scared to call the cops, there is something wrong with this whole story. According to your read, the guy ripped you off, and now you are afraid of physical harm if you "blow the whistle" . THEN, you want HIM beaten up ?...and what do you think HE would do next ? DUDE!!!
