1998 Land Rover Freelander 2.0 td problem.?

hi all,

i have a 1998 Land Rover Freelander 2.0 turbo diesel. recently a problem has popped up over night where it can be hard to start and it runs rough. also it smokes a fair bit of blue smoke and laggs alot when reved. anyone know what it may be/what needs replacing?

and the engine light stays on when before and after started... just in case that means anything.

    Can be anything from sensor issues to breathing or fuel problems. Though blue smoke is indicative of burning oil we may have low compression? Sticking valve etc.

    Best option is to have car scanned for fault codes and have mechanic check if over giving the details you have outlined.

    You may have a combination of issues. Eg faulty maf sensor. Blocked cat etc.
