l have an idea for a TV programme but the system for pitching an idea is SO complex. Is there a short-cut?

The concept would suit ANY channel with the budget to put it on and could suit participation by public or celebrities. There MUST be a contact that l could present this to who could short-cut the usual procedure. HELP!!!

Update:

Aaaarrggh! This idea is NOT comedy - although it could turn out to be, depending upon the featured 'players'..

The simple answer is: no. If there was, anyone would have tried. In order to actually pitch a concept you need to have a lot of proven experience in the field. Even staff writers rarely get to pitch their own ideas; they first work on several existing shows, gain experience and trust, work their way up, and then they can pitch to networks.

Second, I have to say this, because you're coming from the wrong angle: learn what networks (not channels!) look for and what a good concept really is. Research, and a lot! Because you may think your concept is brilliant, but most chances are it's not. Nothing personal, I don't even know what your concept is, but every other person thinks their idea is beyond brilliant. In most cases, it's not. Because there are many many factors to consider; many boxes buyers look to check.

So I suggest that you learn about the business and about the craft if you want to get anywhere. There are no short cuts. Especially if you don't have a script attached to your pitch. You didn't mention having a pilot script, so I'm just assuming here. Also, may I assume that if you did write the pilot you didn't get any professional opinion on it? Or even on the concept?

It’s not simple, period. Because the competition is huge, and the industry has to filter. It needs its gatekeepers – the agents and managers. So you need to land one first. And that alone is not simple.
