l am British and currently in UK. For me, a 30-day visa exemtion can be received upon arrival at the Bangkok Airpoty immigration and l also understand that l can get a 60-day version by providing the Thai Embassy in UK with two photos, my passport and a £25 fee.

However, my fiancee is in the Philippines.

I understand that it is a fact that, provided she has a valid passport and a return air ticket, she can also get a 30 day visa exemption upon arrival in Thailand with no need for any extra requirements BUT in order to get a 60-day version issued in Manila, she has to provide a Certificate of Employment, a bank statement, a letter of invitation (from me??) and pay the 1450 pesos fee together with a completed application form. The complication here is that she is NOT employed and is being financially supported by me from the UK. Thus, a 60-day visa would probably not be granted.

So, if the 30-day option is so simple, she could travel to Thailand and apply for an extension to 60 days once there?

Is that possible and is everything that l have stated factual?

also, l need advice re renting a clean 1 bed apartment away from noise, preferably with all facilities - furnishing, cooking facilty, hot shower and away from city. l would have 730 pounds sterling per month to support myself and girlfriend. Possible? Then, details on transport from airport to the chosen location. Assume that l am completely in the dark re Taiwan though l did live in Philippines for eight years. All advice welcomed and appreciated.

Two of us, long-term girlfriend and l, are planning to visit Hua Hin August 1st to September 29th. Probably cannot afford luxury hotel and really need a rented condo room or similar - clean, air-con, hot shower ... maybe cooking facilities but could eat out cheaply. 41k baht per month available. Any suggestions? Recommendations?

l am a UK passport holder and l already know about the visa exemption. My initial idea is to visit for the 30 days and meet up with my fiancee who is in the Philippines. She also is visa exempt. The plan is to spend that 30 days visit as a vacation after our being separated for almost a year.

l can afford the return air fares for us both but will be on limited finance for everything else during that time.

Clearly, we will not be interested in the usual tourist agenda - no nightlife, no binge-drinking, no upmarket restaurants, just the very basic existence.

My main worry is that we would arrive at the Airport in Bangkok and have no basic accommodation available ahead of time. By basic l mean furnished and clean but cheapish. Then, how to get to the location. Imagine arriving at London Heathrow with no plan in place !!

Note that l have been to Thailand before, about 12 years ago, and did a road trip from Bangkok to ChangMai and have lived in the Philippines for eight years so the culture is not an issue.

Essentially, l guess that l am looking for a local contact who can make life simple for me, whether a friendly Thai or an experienced expat.

The concept would suit ANY channel with the budget to put it on and could suit participation by public or celebrities. There MUST be a contact that l could present this to who could short-cut the usual procedure. HELP!!!
