Hua Hin cheap accomm for two months?

Two of us, long-term girlfriend and l, are planning to visit Hua Hin August 1st to September 29th. Probably cannot afford luxury hotel and really need a rented condo room or similar - clean, air-con, hot shower ... maybe cooking facilities but could eat out cheaply. 41k baht per month available. Any suggestions? Recommendations?

Then, please clarify simple and cheap travel arrangements from Bangkok Airport to Hau Hin.

Your advice much appreciated.

I just returned from visiting Hua Hin on May 26th. I was there 4 days with my girlfriend.

There are a couple ways to get to Hua Hin from Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Simplest but most expensive: Hire a taxi or limo to Hua Hin Cost 1,500 to 2,500 or more

Least expensive: Take bus 551 to the victory monument area 35 baht and then take a minibus from there to Hua Hin for 180-200 baht, time involved 3.5-4 hours

Or Take bus 556 for 35 baht to the Southern Bus Terminal take bus to Hua Hin clock tower for around 160 Baht 3-3.5 hours.

Forget the train, it is scheduled for 4 hours, it took 6+ hours when we went. My gf gets car sick so we avoided that but, the time involved was too much.

Rooms, plenty abound. Book a nice hotel room for a few days and take time to find a nice room, the following link had 265 listings under 10,000 baht per month.

We all say to do this because, you want certain things, quiet neighbors, quiet neighborhood, thick walls, which may not be apparent during the day when you see the room, so go by the building at night and find out of if you have noisy neighbors etc.

Thaiwebsites.com has more hua hin websites for real estate and other things you might need.

Try to stay either near the clock tower or north of there there are 2 night markets which would make eating easier, food easier to get and make it more fun while staying there.

    Good luck

here's a few simple directions that apply to anywhere in thailand.

always book a hotel for two nights online prior to arrival.

english is widely spoken at the airport and its full of taxis and minivans going everywhere. aircon minivans are a comfortable and economic alternative to taxis; so just ask where are the one's heading to Hua Hin.

renting a room or studio is a more comfortable accommodation / option for the long run ( 2 weeks and above ); but remember that most places require a month's deposit. utilities are excluded, water is cheap although if you use aircon often it can add up to $100 on the electricity bill. most rooms have a combination of fan and AC. ALWAYS take the reading of water / electricity when moving in a new room and ask price per unit of each.

my advice when renting a room or studio is always to pair it with a motorbike ( 3,000 bahts - $100 - a month ) even if you'll use it for 2 or 3 weeks its always cheaper and more comfortable than relying on motorbike taxis.

there are 3 alternatives to finding a room.

    - online.

    - through a real estate agent ( look for one online ) they'll usually take you to see the studios they've for rent and only take a small commission ( about $60 a month ) and they save you the trouble of dealing with the landlord for whatever reason - its money well spent - and if things go wrong you always got someone to go back to / landlords often disappear in case of emergency or when refunding the deposit.

    - or you could just take the motorbike for a ride around town and you'll see billboards with "Rent - Weekly & Monthly Basis" and just walk in and see for yourself. some 3 star hotels offer a monthly rate and even have a sink in the balcony for cooking / just buy a hotplate and plug in socket.

average rent per month is between 9,000 to 18,000 bahts.

another advantage of renting a scooter is that you can drive a few minutes away from the noise and the down town area and get save so much more on rent.

    enjoy & stay safe.

MANY choices and you have a middle generous money to spend, good.

Suggest you book into an international hotel for first two days and look then for what YOU want. Maybe one with airport transport?

I would go to the "limo" rental desk inside the airport and price a car for the trip, a small Benz. If that is too much for you, SMILE and ask the clerk for suggestions cheaper. Being a poor person, he will smile, understand, and direct you to several other choices.

Come to Thailand and learn to relax and be helped by Thai helpful folks. Did I mention for you to smile?
