HOW TO OPEN THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT ON A DELL PP 18L LAPTOP?

I bought a used laptop on eBay for my brother, along with a new battery. He called and said that he cannot open the battery compartment. He described two slide latches, but says that the compartment will not open no matter what he does with the latch buttons.

Update:

Thanks, folks... turned out somebody had thoughtfully corrected a loose battery door by GLUING it in place.

    Did he hold the latches and then open the cover?

    Slide the latch buttons to the outside, and lift the back end of the battery up.
