Honestly, if you've read any of my answers on previous questions LIKE this then you know I despise Samsung. The call quality is never excellent, their devices tend to have a lag-type feel to them, no matter how many updates through Google they do the system is never good enough, it's just frustrating. TouchWiz is an AWFUL UI in my opinion. It's not smooth at all and if the memory gets too full, then you're going to notice a definite slowing down of the system.
On the other hand, Samsung has a lot of features installed on its devices. These are features that are strictly Samsung and have not been able to be duplicated by any other phone company. Features are what set this phone apart from any other. Gestures are HUGE on this system - it can literally track your eye movement when you're reading an article. That's significantly impressive.
With LG's G2, I've been completely surprised and pleased with the over functionality of the phone. I've never had a call quality issue or issue with the screen. In fact their screens on the G2 are excellent and include visual animations that are just plain fun to use. The battery life is pretty impressive on this unit also, so if you're a road warrior, this may be a better choice than the S4. Another positive thing about the G2 is that it uses a microUSB charger which means, if the original dies it's pretty easy to replace. Whereas the S4 is using a microUSB/USB 3.0 combo...these chargers are a little harder to find and may be costly.
So it's really a matter of personal preference and whether you like the look and feel of the device before purchase. Think about it - you're going to be stuck with one these for the next 20 months at least. I recommend you go to Best Buy Mobile and take a look at what they have. The employees are not biased and will give you an honest answer plus you get to play around with the device.
