External Hard Drive Problem-?

My old Gateway laptop died so I took the hard drive out, bought a hard drive enclosure, and connected it via USB to my desktop. It worked perfectly for about 2 years... until my son decided to go after the glowing red light and pulled the enclosure off my desk onto the tile floor. After that my desktop has yet recognize that it's even plugged in. I assumed it was my enclosure that was the problem, so I ordered a new one and plugged that one in. Nothing. I tried every possible USB port on my desktop - nothing. So I went and tried it on my work computer - nothing. The light on the enclosure comes on, I hear the thing beep, the drive spins, but nothing happens. It doesn't give an error of any kind, it doesn't show up in explorer, device management, or anything.

Is there a smarter man out there than me that can help me with this? This drive is extremely important to me. It has all of my phones pics/vids from both of my kids births, wedding photos, just EVERYTHING sentimental to me. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

sorry to say but the drive is most likely dead, it only takes a few grams of shock/impact to damage the drive.

and now that the drive is damaged, it will cost you a few thousand to have it professionally recovered.

the only thing i could suggest is connecting it inside a computer via a Sata cable and a Sata power cable to see if the drive powers up and might work that way.

It's very unfortunate that it was dropped. Dropping a hard drive is very distructive action. Hard drives are very fragile from inside. I face this kind of situation almost everyday. People cry when they hear about the cost of recovery. Although we try our best to keep the recovery price low but it's still not that cheap. I would suggest to take the drive to a local data recovery place for a free evaluation. Please only go to a professional data recovery center. Thanks.
