  • Is it wise to borrow from a 401K to pay off a credit card?

I'm 26 and have had this credit card debt for a few years (only $3,000 @ around 20%APR). I've been making the monthly payments but it seems like it's not going down at all. I'm finally at a point in my life where I'm not living paycheck-to-paycheck and was wondering if I should borrow against my 401K (@ 4.25% interest) to pay off my credit card. It seems like an easy decision to me, but I'm still learning about finances and such. Does anybody have any experience with this?

  • External Hard Drive Problem-?

My old Gateway laptop died so I took the hard drive out, bought a hard drive enclosure, and connected it via USB to my desktop. It worked perfectly for about 2 years... until my son decided to go after the glowing red light and pulled the enclosure off my desk onto the tile floor. After that my desktop has yet recognize that it's even plugged in. I assumed it was my enclosure that was the problem, so I ordered a new one and plugged that one in. Nothing. I tried every possible USB port on my desktop - nothing. So I went and tried it on my work computer - nothing. The light on the enclosure comes on, I hear the thing beep, the drive spins, but nothing happens. It doesn't give an error of any kind, it doesn't show up in explorer, device management, or anything.

Is there a smarter man out there than me that can help me with this? This drive is extremely important to me. It has all of my phones pics/vids from both of my kids births, wedding photos, just EVERYTHING sentimental to me. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Fantasy Football Trade?

I was offered Chris Johnson for Brandon Marshall in my PPR League. I'm in desperate need for a RB2 since I'm having to start Darren McFadden. So looking at the trade I immediately rejected it and started to counter offer with Larry Fitzgerald for Chris Johnson, but then I started thinking that Fitzgerald is too much for CJ in a PPR League. Is Fitz for CJ too much?

    My team:

    QB: Stafford, Freeman

WR: Marshall, Fitz, Miles Austin, Stevie Johnson, Thompkins/Hopkins

RB: Foster, McFadden, Dwyer, Pierre Thomas

    TE: Witten

  • '95 Lincoln Vacuum Problem?

I had a long vacuum hose pop off somewhere on my motor that starts at the backside of the motor. I don't know if it goes left or right from there, but it is definitely the longest hose of all the ones coming from the backside. Any ideas what vacuums originate from that location?

I've looked at a vacuum diagram for the car but it doesn't make much sense to me. And I don't want to take the car to a mechanic to fix 1 hose that popped off.

    Thanks.

  • Does this sound romantic?

It's our 3rd wedding anniversary coming up and we have 2 kids (2 year old and a 1 month old) so going away really isn't an option. My in-laws said they'd watch the kids for a few hours so I was thinking that instead of going out and stuff, I would wait until my wife leaves to go drop the kids off then fill the house with candles and make/order her favorite food while just sitting in the living room playing our favorite tunes. Just a nice quiet evening in only candle-light. Would a woman find that romantic?

    Thanks for any answer!

  • Can a mechanic legally keep my keys?

6 weeks ago a hired a mechanic to fix my truck, he took the part out and mailed it out of state for repairs. 6 weeks later, he still has the part, not fixed, so I fired him. I towed my truck to a different shop and offered to pay for the work he's done to date (not the part he hasn't fixed). He said no, wants ALL of the payment and has my keys until I pay the full amount. What can I do?

  • Transmission Temp. Light?

The trans temp light inside the dash turns on after about 8-10 minutes of driving in my 2006 Dodge Dakota (4.7 / 5spd auto). I pull over, put it in park, wait a bit, the light goes off, I drive off and it doesn't come back on. It does it almost like clock work at 8-10 minutes. It shifts fine, my engine temp is fine, no check engine light, full of fluid, I'm just tired of pulling over and I don't want to ignore it and cause a problem.

Any ideas that I can try?

  • 2006 Dakota Transmission?

I have a 2006 Dodge Dakota SLT with the 4.7. The problem is whenever I'm shifting from P to D. Park to reverse works okay, but I know it won't go into drive whenever it kinda "slams" into reverse first. When I shift into drive, it doesn't feel like it fully engages in drive and it has almost ZERO power. If I try to go, after about 10 seconds the Check-Engine light comes on. Theres like 5 different codes that come up and all of them say something diffent. However, if I turn the truck off, and turn it back on, that usually fixes it (with the exception of last night). It usually only does it when it's aleady warm or warm outside (100+ degrees). Has anybody heard of this, or had this happen, or know how to fix this?

  • If sports were removed from college-?

How many blacks would get scholarships or pay for school?

  • Why does God allow this?

A coworker's 2 year old daughter was just diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. Having a 2 year old daughter myself, it REALLY hit home for me. I couldn't imagine my little girl having to go through that. Then I start thinking, why would God let this happen? I have googled that question and I get answers like "God doesn't have control of what happens on earth..." "Man created disease when he sinned..." "God is just leasing earth to humans...", etc. So my question is, if God has no control on earth, why do we pray to him in times of troubles? I've also heard people say "It's all part of His devine plan." Well if it's part of his plan, and I pray to him, is he gonna change his whole plan, just because I asked him to? This religion thing is confusing...

Will someone please explain to me why God would let that little 2 year old girl get cancer?

  • Murder Dream Question-?

I'm a pretty laid back guy. I don't have any enemies and I'm pretty easy to get along with. But last night I had a really weird, really vivid dream of me killing someone. I was hanging out with a girl that looked a lot like my wife, but we were back in high school. After school one evening she comes over to my house (for some reason we live next door to each other?) and she has a black eye. She said her step dad hit her. So I go over there and the step dad pins the girl (my wife?) to the ground and starts hitting her. So I grab the closest object, a flat head screw driver, and stab him in the neck. I then watch him bleed out. Then I go back home, pack a bag, kiss my mom goodbye and the girl and I drive off. I call my mom in the car and she's really supportive of me for doing what I did. And that's when my alarm clock went off and I woke up. Any idea why I would dream of such a gruesome murder and not wake up? I've never had a murder dream before and I can't stop thinking about it. Thanks.

  • I have a Jesus Question-?

Should any skepticism about Jesus' greatness be cleared up by the fact that the entire world uses His life as a reference point for our dates? (2012 A.D. or B.C.) I mean, a guy would have to be REALLY important or do something REALLY miraculous for that to happen, right?

  • Will this help my credit?

When i was 18, i got a fixed line of credit from my credit union. 6 years later its maxed out. I've always heard that its bad to have a credit card maxed out like that so (now that I'm financially stable) would it help my credit to extend that credit limit to get my balance away from the available limit? It's only a $3,000 limit because I was 18, but now I make good money so if I extend it to like $6,000 and keep paying on it, will it help me?

  • Which is less professional?

I know they are both pretty unprofessional, but when the situation arises (like what happened this morning), is it less professional to show up to a job interview (for a receptionist position) with your 18-month old daughter or be late to the interview waiting for the babysitter (mother-in-law)? This morning my wife had an interview and my mother-in-law decided to use that time to run an errand. My wife was 10 minutes late to the interview. Should she just have taken our daughter with her and been on time?

  • About to get in a fight and have a question?

There are 3-4 people waiting outside my work because of something I said to a co-worker (we got in an argument about them not pulling their weight). The security guard doesn't have jurisdiction off the property. How can I get to my car and avoid these people? Will police help me out?

  • Is there a better way to save for retirement than a 401K?

I have very little knowledge when it comes to investing. I mean VERY little. My company offers a 401K that I pay 3% (and my employer matches 100%). Is there a better way than this? I've always heard of IRA's, CD"s, and such, but I'm not really sure what they are or how they work. I'm not wanting to know all the facts, just facts that will point me in the right direction.

  • My grandmother just passed away?

So here's my situation. Last week I bought concert tickets to go see Styx. A couple days ago, my grandmother got really sick with her cancer so my family and I have spent the last couple days at the hospital by her bed side. Well this morning she passed away. But also, the Styx concert is tonight. Would I be a bad person if I attended the concert even tho the rest of my family is at home grieving? I just have a feeling that my family would think that I didn't love my grandma or something, which is not the case. I am just comfortable with death (my grandma was also really sick for over a year which really helped me prepare for this day).
