Your question: "What are the signs your husband is going through his " Midlife crisis?"

There is no such thing as a midlife crisis. Midlife crisis was a term that was invented by popular media and the infotainment industry. If follows the so-called Erikson's stages of psychosocial development. Erik Erikson as part of the inner circle of the Sigmund Freud cult and was personally supervised and approved by Anna Freud, Sigmund's daughter.

Erik Erikson's paradigm, aside from being latched onto without critical review by numerous authors of human development college texts. Before then it was commonly used to promote the neo-Freudian psychoanalysis industry, after Freud died, as follows:

    • All people must go through the same stages of psychological development.

    • The developmental stages were discovered by Erik Erikson after psychoanalytic training.

    • Erikson discovered tha people who get stuck at an earlier stage cannot advance to the next stage; they are abnormal.

    • Psychoanalysis is their only reasonable hope of approximating normalcy.

    • Even if a person is not aware of how messed up their mind is, psychoanalysis can help.

    • If psychoanalysis does not help, it is because the patient is stuck at an earlier stage.

Enough of that. It is bunk and so is the midlife crisis.

"When Erikson was twenty-five, his friend Peter Blos invited him to Vienna to tutor art at the small Burlingham-Rosenfeld School for children whose affluent parents were undergoing psychoanalysis by Sigmund Freud's daughter, Anna Freud... In 1933 he received his diploma from the Vienna Psychoanalytic Institute."

Here are a few signs "crossing Jordan" "one way" "yield" If he says any of the preceding things it is because he is no longer a human but has changed from human to a street sign. This sometimes happens during mid life and is referred to as spontaneous human traffic sign metamorphosis. There are two things you can do to respond to a mid life crisis. Depending on what you read, "yield" or do not enter. The third option is more comples and in that case I can't help you. One method would be to ask him is this a two way street? At that point you can try and observe him because most street signs won't move and are not humans.

If he's changed from the husband you have always known, something is going on with him. This would depend on what the specific changes are, to determine the specific reason/s.....♥♥

They compensate the reality of nearing 100 years old by buying heaps of crap, especially items that as a boy they dreamed about.. wanting a "cooler car" grooming and dressing 'younger' and basically being in denial that they are old fat and working in a crap job for crap pay. Their expectations of being successful at the age they've in leaves them depressed so acting trying to look youthful winds up with midlife crisis victims finding younger sex mates to hide behind their youth.. where sadly it only makes them look like dinosaurs.
