Cookies are items that some websites use to save data from the site without using the sites memory storage. A better explanation is: Say you were playing an in browser game like "Learn to fly". The Site that hosts the game would save your progress throughout the game to your PC using Cookies, even when you close your browser and shutdown your computer. Other sites will use them to see if you have been there before or to make sure you have not been ban.
