Root canal on a dead front tooth (9) ?

My doc (endodontist) gave me an appointment for the R.C.T tomorrow. He told me that the tooth is dead and that he spotted an abscess in the X-ray. Is the procedure going to be painful ? Ive heard that the local Anastasia would be painful in the front tooth , but my doc told me that it is no more than an ant bite. I am really anxious to know about it. He did not prescribe me any antibios or painkillers.

Thank you

i had this done about a month ago on my top tooth, next to the two front teeth. worst part was the injection/shot in the roof of my mouth. it only lasted a second or two but it was painful. after that, i only felt a little bit of pressure. and the temporary crown was irritating and felt funny for a few days, but i have the permanent crown now and it looks and feels perfectly normal. they will probably put this rubber latex dam around the tooth while they're doing the RC, which feels weird but not painful. like i said, only that shot in the roof of the mouth is what hurt for me. you can take 4 ibuprofin which is 800 milligrams and they told me that was equivalent to the prescription pain meds. i only took two before my appointment.
