suicide is it still a sin?
If I am dying of a terminal illness and kill my self, is that a sin, god made me sick after all

God did not make you sick. Jesus was clear in His teachings that Satan made you sick. Let me change your question a little to:" Will I go to Hell if I commit suicide?" I worked as a Registered Nurse in Hospitals on psychiatric units for 20 years and know that most people commit suicide due to having the physical illness, "Major Depression" which is cause by too low of a level of chemicals in the brain called, "Neuro- transmitters. The feelings of hopelessness, wanting to die and much of the negative emotions and thought are caused by that and are not really what the person believes or wants. People have a hard time believing this but I have witnessed complete recovery many times of these symptoms when the patient was on an effective antidepressant long enough for his blood levels in his brain to be brought back to normal. I do not think that God would send a person to Hell who committed suicide due to his mind not working properly due to a physical disease. But my thinking changed a little.
I also witnessed this in myself when I became 100% disabled and could not work or lift over a pound due to degenerative disc disease. I was also in severe pain every waking minute of the day. I had a spinal fusion to correct the disability and reduce the pain or maybe even eliminate it. After the spinal fusion I was 10 times worse in every symptom and then had other nerve problems as well. The doctor said physical therapy would remedy the situation but after 1 year of physical therapy I was much worse and had problems I didn't have before. I now had Major Depression because of all of this and a difficult marriage. After another year my wife of 17 years left me and ended up divorcing me.
From 1962 until 1967 I wanted to be dead every waking moment of every day and until 1964 I had strong urges to kill myself at least 15 times every day. The things that saved me from committing suicide were antidepressants (It took 2 years for the doctor to find 2 that were helpful enough to stop the suicidal urges). The other thing that saved me was the possibility that I might go to Hell if I killed myself. I believed that other people might not go to Hell if they killed themselves but what about me? Maybe this was a test for me and that although it might be true for others how would that help me if I went to Hell. The chance that I might go to Hell was not worth killing myself. I was then about 58 y/o and thought that maybe I would only have to endure this for 10 years but Hell would be forever!
I'm 71 y/o now and I am a little better as I can lift 1 pound when 14 y/ago I could lift 8 ounces. I am still in constant pain but I have found a pain clinic that is willing to prescribe better pain medicine so that the pain is less severe. I have now got over the grieving of my wife divorcing me and believe that it was the best thing she ever done for me.
What I am saying is if you are thinking of killing yourself because you have a terminal disease you don't have to do that as all you have to do is wait and you will die in a Spiritually legal way so that you may still go to Heaven. I may sound flip but I didn't mean it that way. I tell myself that often and it helps. If you are not on an antidepressant then I encourage you to start that process. It may take awhile for your psychiatrist to find the best 2 if 1 doesn't do it all. There are 3 Neuro-transmitters that low levels will cause Major Depression: Serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine.
There are antidepressants that work on just serotonin and some on both. But none effect dopamine. That is actually good because the American Psychiatrist association have a rule that doctors can only prescribe 2 antidepressants at the same time. There is a medicine called Mirapex that is for restless leg syndrome which I have. It works by increasing dopamine levels in the Brain and when I got on it 2 years ago it helped my Depression greatly and changed my life for the better. Your doctor can find a way to try that on you even if you don't have restless legs. Do you have nausea from radiation or chemo? Marijuana almost relieves that completely and also decreases pain. I hope you have medical marijuana laws where you live or that you can get a regular supply even if it's not. Better yet I hope you don't have that problem.
I know that I've written a lot but I identify with you and have suffered from incompetent doctors and silly laws. In some ways I thank God for what has happened to me as it has helped me get closer to God and forced me to do that. I have to ask Him for help at least 20 times a day and He always helps me. Now I have a fatal disease also. Old age and many other physical problems. My doctor says that because of my health he can't see me living another 10 years. There are things God wants me to do during that time and I don't know what all of them are.
I hope at least one of the many things I have shared has been helpful as it is so hard to have a fatal or other serious disease like mine. My heart goes out to you and I will pray for you tonight. I don't know your name but God knows who you are. Heavenly Father please don't look at my sins but on your infinite compassion and unfailing love. Please grant this man full and complete restoration of health and wholeness and please Father kill every cancer cell in his body. Please heal this man who is your child and your servant of every physical disease and every mental and emotional difficulty and may he publically thank you and praise you for your infinite love for him and for all of us. Please show him the reason for this illness and how it can make him happier and a better servant to you. Dear Father you have said in your Bible that we should remind us of your promises, not that you forget but to strengthen our faith. In Psalm 103 you promise in verses 3 and 4 that, "You will forgive us all of our sins and heal all of our diseases." Thank you dear loving Father. we ask in the blessed name of your Son our Lord, Jesus Christ who died on the Cross for us and took on Himself the penalties for our sins and healed us from all our diseases. Amen

Alrighty. This is a tricky matter. If you are Ill but NOT relying on life support, then yes it is a sin. If you are sick AND relying on life support to keep you alive then no. If you are relying on a machine to keep you alive and "you were to pull the plug" then it's a no. So the same probably goes for if you decide to refuse treatment if it's the only thing keeping you alive. I would personally recommend you don't just let go. Life is precious, and I'm not for sure how God will look on just giving up.. not to mention people will miss you

I think that is Gods decision, and his alone. None of us can tell you what God will decide. But one thing for believers is, God loves us all. I think God will give us every opportunity he can. I don't think he wants to send us to hell. The pastor of my church says God will separate himself from the unsaved. But I think even that is impossible, because God is omnipresent. That means he is everywhere all of the time, even in Hell. I think it's impossible to be separated from God, and many will not go to hell. We may not go to heaven either though. Purgatory?

For Mormons the blood transfusion is a sin.
So! Pick the sins that fit with your interpretations and needs.

Who told you it's a sin? It doesn't say it anywhere in the bible, that's for sure.
Samson killed himself, and the bible doesn't say it's a sin when it happened.
