Question about the Christ?

Jesus said that there have been many Christ's before him and many more people claiming I am the Christ, but don't follow them.

Who are some of the Christ's before Jesus? I know Cyrus was one, anybody know any others?

These are some that we know about. Who knows how many there actually were?

Simon of Peraea (c. Unknown – 4 BCE), a former slave of Herod the Great who rebelled and was killed by the Romans.[3]

Jesus of Nazareth (c. 5 BCE – 30 CE), leader of a Jewish sect who was crucified by the Romans at the instigation of Jewish leaders; Jews who believed him to be the Messiah were the first Christians, also known as Jewish Christians.[4] Muslims,[5] Christians[6] and Messianic Jews[7] believe him to be the real Messiah.

    Athronges (c. 3 CE),[8] a shepherd turned rebel leader.

The story within the dogma; I'm just relaying the dogma, so I don't want to hear crap about it.

You have to understand the difference between the pre-easter and post-easter Jesus to understand the idea of the Christ. Before the crucifixion Jesus was just a man. Afterwards he was anointed or became the Christ... of the time in the place. All that the word Christ means is "anointed." Like when you annotate a Youtube Video, you place a little conduit to something else inside it. That's all that it was and that's why street prophets tell you to "take Jesus into your heart." Everyone can become anointed and have that annotation to god, but it's a choice. In Jesus' baptism story the mythology of the dove coming to him is how they represent that.

I'd estimate that anyone who was a mystic, like Jesus was (meaning literally speaking to god out loud) would have been considered to have that annotation.

There were many, and a couple are named in Acts 5:34-37. The Pharisees are listening to the words of their respected teacher, Gamaliel. He warns the Jews to cease from persecuting this new sect of Christ-followers. It their work isn't from God, then it will fail. If it is, though, they would find themselves fighting against God Himself.... not a desirable position.

Others are not named because many false Christs were to come. Jesus warned us. Peter, Paul, and Judas also give us warnings. "Ye shall know them by their fruit..."

See Galatians 1:6-9. Remind you of anyone?

For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Messiah,' and will deceive many. Matthew 24:5

There is only one true Christ and that is Yeshua. These people He was talking about are Anti Christs the false ones.

There was Ben Christ, Bobby Joe Christ, and even Armando Christ. Many people thought that Armando was way, way better than Jesus because he was a better dancer and he smiled more. Bobby Joe Christ, on the other hand, was not very well respected, especially not after the whole camel incident.

By the way: it's Christs, not Christ's. It's simply plural, not possessive.

we would like to see the passage -- for here he says "SHALL arrive"

Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Mar 13:6 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Luk 21:8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.

If you mean John 10:8 then read Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible

All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers,.... This must be understood with some restrictions, not of every individual person, nor of every individual prophet or shepherd; not of Moses, nor of the prophets of the Lord, nor of John the Baptist, who came immediately before Christ, was his harbinger, and prepared his way; but of those prophets who came, and were not sent of God, and so did not come in by the door; of the shepherds of Israel, who fed themselves, and not the flock, but lorded it over God's heritage; and of such, as Theudas, and Judas the Galilean, who boasted that they were some great persons, but were only thieves and robbers; and particularly of the three shepherds cut off in one month, Zechariah 11:8, supposed to be the three sects among the Jews, and the leaders of them, the Pharisees, Sadducees, and Essenes, especially the former; who were wolves in sheep's clothing, usurped a power that did not belong to them, robbed God of his authority, and glory; and, in a literal sense, plundered men of their substance, and devoured widows' houses, as well as destroyed their souls. The phrase, "before me", is wanting in seven of Beza's exemplars, and in several others; and in the Vulgate Latin, Syriac, and Persic versions:

but the sheep did not hear them; the elect of God, some of which there were in all ages, though their number is comparatively few, did not attend to the false prophets, and false teachers, and idol shepherds; did not receive their doctrines, nor follow their practices; for it is not possible that these should be finally and totally deceived, or carried away with the error of the wicked.
