Where do Americans usually keep their washing machines?

In a utility room (often off the kitchen), an upstairs closet, or in the basement. Rarely do Americans put the washing machine IN the kitchen.

Mine is in the garage. Mostly they are in the garage or the basement. Where do you keep yours?

Most people I know keep it in the garage, basement, or some other back room that is sort of isolated from the rest of the house, like a designated laundry room.

Basement/garage are probably the most common.
