Algera questions, please help!?
1. Given the line segment between 1 and 9, find the point that divides the line segment into a ratio of 3:5
2. Find the midpoint of the line segment having endpoints at (4, 2) and (-2, 8).
3. Find the distance between the (-4, 3) and (2, -1) using the distance formula.
4. Determine the equation of the parabola in the form y=ax2 + bx + c given the focus (2, 5) and directrix y = 3.
Please help! These questions are gonna be on my test this week!!!

1) Segment is 8 units long so dividing it into 3:5 puts the mark 3 units past the lower endpoint or 3 + 1 = 4. The dividing point is 4.
2) Use the midpoint formula:
((x1 + x2)/2, (y1 + y2)/2)
points (4, 2) and (-2, 8):
((4 - 2)/2, (2 + 8)/2) = (1, 5) midpoint
3) Use the distance formula:
d = SQR[(x2 - x1)^2 + (y2 - y1)^2]
given points (-4, 3) and (2, -1):
d = SQR[(2 - (-4))^2 + (-1 - 3)^2] = SQR[36 + 16} = SQR(52) = 2SQR(13)
No time to do #4, sorry. This is explained here:
