Will this bike rack ruin my car paint?
Idk if the type of car matters but anyways I have a 05 saab 9-3 turbo, gray, my dad said it will destroy the paint but my mom said it won't. It has rubber where it touches the car. It's easy to take on and off but I'm just planning on keeping it on. It's a bell bike rack. Here's a URL I'm not sure if it will work though

So, you own a Saab and won't buy a decent rack?!
In general, Bell racks are just about the worst you can buy. They have neoprene bumpers (part that goes against the car) and yes, it is possible that it can damage the paint.
Give that rack to Goodwill and get a Saris Bones carrier, costs about $180. They are ultra stable and will not hurt the car. Keep in mind that a rack is to protect the bikes AND the car. It doesn't take much to have a $200 bill to fix a car finish.

Buying a rack for your Saab from Walmart?
Sense, this makes none.
Had a similar rack (from a friend for free to haul his bike for him) fall off my beater car that was installed on a cold morning, but the straps "stretched" in the sun when it went from 40F to over 80F, it loosened up enough to drop off the car, luckily while parked. Damaged paint before falling off and even more when I put I back on and finished hauling his bike.
Why not buy a good rack?
I probably did $500 damage to the paint on my car over about 50 miles... but since it was my beater, that I beat, I didn't care. If I had left it on, it would have worn through the paint and probably would have had rust under the pads after a month or so.

A good bike rack protects both the bikes and the car. That rack will do neither

That rack is junk and will damage your car and the bike. If I had a car like that I would get a class 3 hitch and use a hitch mounted rack.
You can mount and remove a hitch rack in seconds and it never damage your car.

if it touches anything painted, and dirt gets under the pad, yes it will rub the paint, possibly off
