Does a car tune up cost this much?
Okay my car a 1992 Buick Century needs some work done to it. Went to an auto repair shop and they told me $225.00 dollars for a basic tune up, he told me for that price I wouldn't need another tune up for 4 years because he's going to put in the parts on the market. Is this to much for 1992 car that still runs very good?

plugs, distributor cap, rotor, button, wireset,
in the ball park with labor included~. maybe a bit high. might shop around. purdy basic for an ignition tune up. 92 buick with HEI is nothing special. no pun or insult intended. yea, buick made a "special" model.
FYI,
the price of a tune up by a shop doesn't have anything to do with how long it will last. not when a shop marks up parts cost and includes labor charges. only parts quality does. and general engine condition.
also,
iffin you buy yourself a spark plug wrench, feeler gage, flat blade screw driver, review many clips on you tube for most any buick prior to 1996 with same engine, you'll save yourself 150 minimum doing it yourself. save on labor and parts mark up.
i say *many clips* on you tube as not all will have every tip needed. this is also a very basic thing. iffin you know anyone who's the least bit savy with cars, you can prolly get it done with very little effort. biggest tip is onlly deal with one plug and wire at a time. so as not to skew firing orders.

Change the AC-Delco spark plugs yourself when the engine is stone cold. If the car hasnn't had a new set of AC-Delco ignition wires in the past 50,000 miles change those also.
