Julian Assange has been granted political asylum by Ecuador. He lives in an efficiency apartment in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London. British police are stationed outside the Embassy; should he leave for any reason he would be arrested and extradited to Sweden to face charges for rape. It is unlikely he will leave except in an extreme emergency.
