Does my dog think I am going to be late?
I need to get up at between 5.00 and 5.30 am every morning for work. When I get a day off, I obviously do not. But you can guarantee that the same dog (I have two) is knocking on the side of the bed at about 5.20, 25 when I am attempting to lie in Do you think my dog realises that I am not up at the normal time and thinks I'll be late?
So would that make him physic?
He does not get up when I do, in fact, when I am up at that hour, he lies in bed and does not move, even when I ask them if they want to go out. My wife says that as soon as I leave at 6.30 ish, they both want to go out.

Dogs are creatures of habit - and they don't check calenders either so he hasn't the faintest idea that you are needing to lie in! I'm afraid you may be looking at at least getting up to let him out to empty at that hour, even if you then go back to bed. Them's the breaks with dogs (or any other animal really - cattle need milking at a set time each morning, regardless).

Yes as it's a routine for the dog, do you normally feed the dog or ley the dog out during that time if so that's the reason

yes. dogs usually get used to your routine too. so they learn to adjust to what time you wake up, what time you leave, what time you come back, and what time you sleep.
