What is more important for building muscle?

Muscle confusion or mass overload? I know you need both but what is truly more important? It seems like the heavier you lift, even without muscle confusion,

Your muscles will be forced to adapt to that new weight, thus building muscle???

    Mass overload for sure. Read this website, it will truly open your eyes to what is actually necessary to build muscle.
