Bill is a smarta** and got away with it. If you copy his argument you could fail. To play it safe you should think about Juliet's role as a Renaissance woman and daughter. In those days girls were totally controlled by their fathers until they got married, when they became servants to their husbands. Their fathers even chose those husbands for them. If they disobeyed, they could be locked up, sent to a convent, or even killed.

Once she disobeyed her father by running off with Romeo, she knew she had burned her family bridges.

So changing her mind and begging forgiveness wouldn't have occurred to her and the tragedy had to play itself out. The decision that will be tricky for you to deal with is her opening her heart to Romeo even though she knows he is her family's enemy. She probably had a choice there. Good luck.

I did this once for an oral presenation and got a lot of laughs and an "A" because the know it all teacher could not argue with my point... okay here goes: Juliet had no choice in her decisions because: She is a creation of William Shakespeares' imagination and HE controlled exactly what was going to happen in order to complete his tragedy. Shakespeare KNEW Juliet would kill herself once she saw Romeo dead because that was the story Shakespeare wanted to tell. As any great writer will tell you, they create the ending first and work their way backwards. That is what Shakespeare did and that is why Romeo and Julliet ended the way it did... Thank you and good night.

(if ya get an A thank me, if they flunk ya... hey, what do I know? Go for it... good luck!
