Should I tell him about it?

My boyfriend is an amazing guy, he's got some irritating traits but he's perfect for me. I've been looking for a guy like him all my life and I've finally found him but my parents hate him. They don't even know him but they know that he's had parents that neglected him and so he turned to drugs. However, he is 30 now and hasn't touched drugs in 7 years.

My parents think I just need a little time and I'll eventually break up with him, but I don't plan on it.

So this Thursday I have an appointment with a surgeon (I'll be having an operation on my eye soon) and I haven't told him yet because my mum wants to be there too. Should I tell him? Is it a good idea for him to be there while my mum is there?
