  • What are they so worried about?

My boyfriend has kids, when my parents found out about this they were so against our relationship, the screamed and swore at me everyday but they eventually decided they were going to give him a chance because they want me to be happy. My boyfriend and I went to a shopping centre a few days ago and my mum hugged him and said she's sorry for everything. They then talked for the next 20 minutes and in my mums words, she was so "enthralled by him" and that he's so intelligent, funny and cares about me a lot. So she likes him a lot and she's not against our relationship, but she's still worried that I don't know what I'm getting myself into. I know things are going to be harder with money and the fact that I will have kids in the future and then his to look after. My mum is not very good with words, neither is my dad so I'm not sure why they're so worried about his kids. I'd just like some ideas on what exactly they're worried about?

  • My boyfriend has ADHD?

My boyfriend has ADHD, he gets into these moods where he's really hyper and will not shut up! It really irritates me but I try to stay calm and not show it. Sometimes he won't let me sleep until 5 or 6 am cause he just keeps talking or moving! Is there any way I can calm him down??

  • How can I make them see what I see?

My parents seem to think my boyfriend is a criminal, they have not spoken to him they have only seen pictures. They're constantly worried that he's going to get me pregnant, or that if I divulge any information about my parents eg. Bank details (which I would never do) that he would steal all their money. My mum thinks I've stolen her jewellery to buy drugs! They think he's going to f*ck my life up.

In reality my boyfriend has had a horrible past and was on drugs but has been clean since he was 19, (30 now) he works so hard and is very focused on his career (engineer), he shares everything with me (his bank account, his password for everything, his car etc) he pays for everything eg food, texts books for uni, uni fees, doctors appointments (I'm on a waiting list for an operation so I have a lot of appointments). If we have an argument, he's the one that wants to talk it out (from my past relationships that was always my job)

So how do I get my parents to see what I see? He is not allowed at my house, if I say anything about him my parents will start screaming at me. They said they will never accept him, but they don't know him and it's killing us both. My parents have sworn at him, called him a b*****d and he still respects them.

  • Should I talk to her about this?

My parents are constantly threatening to kick me out of their lives if I stay with my boyfriend. They have never spoken to him, they just know that he's 30 and has a kid. Im 22 so I don't think the age difference is such a huge issue. They just keep telling me he's got too much "excess baggage". I have thought a lot about this and I do think things might be a little harder for us if we choose to go further in our relationship, but it's worth it because this he's everything I want in a guy

My cousin is 19 and is dating a 32 year old, I wanted to talk to her cause she went through the same thing and eventually got what she wanted. The thing is, I'm worried that she will tell my other cousins who will tell their parents and then my whole family will think badly of me. What should I do?

  • Is he disrespectful or is it my family?

My parents hate my boyfriend cause he's got kids. They think it's inevitable he's going to ruin my life, and they have never even spoken to him other than the one time they met and they spent 15 minutes calling him a b*****d and telling him he's a piece of sh*t. When my dad said "come here and talk to me" my boyfriend was walking up to him and I stood infront of him so he stopped.

My brother once sent me a message saying that I disgust him and I'm not his sister etc. all because I'm dating someone that my family hates and when I cried, my boyfriend sent him a message on Facebook, calling him gutless and weak.

So my family seems to think he doesn't know the meaning of respect, I personally think it's them, not him.

I want to know what others think about this cause I'm thinking of talking to my boyfriend about it and asking him to be more respectful...but at the same time I feel that he did nothing wrong compared to my family

  • My boyfriend is so disrespectful?

My boyfriend is very respectful towards me, but not with anyone else.

My parents hate him, they call him a b*****d, swear at him etc. (that was once, I never let them see each other again)

A few days ago my mum called me to tell me she looked him up on Facebook and said she saw pictures of him getting married (it was his sisters wedding). He then posted a status for her to see, telling her to stop snooping and let us be happy.

That day my brother sent me a rude message and I cried, so my boyfriend got pissed off and sent him a message on Facebook, calling him gutless and weak.

I really care about him, I think I love him. But I hate that he's so disrespectful toward my family, I feel that there is no chance of them ever accepting him if he acts like this. I want to talk to him about this, but what should I say? I know he's going to say "I don't care who it is but as long as I'm around no one will disrespect you" any ideas?

  • Don't know how to handle this, help?

My parents hate my boyfriend only because he has kids from a past relationship. They haven't even talked to him. They cry and scream at me almost every day, they think he's going to hurt me and I understand that but I feel it's completely unfair what they're doing - they have given me a month to break up with him. I was stressed out and scared at the time and I agreed, but I don't think I can do it. But If I don't they're in their words 'done with me' .

I'm 22, which is a huge reason I find this unfair. What do I do?

  • Should I tell him about it?

My boyfriend is an amazing guy, he's got some irritating traits but he's perfect for me. I've been looking for a guy like him all my life and I've finally found him but my parents hate him. They don't even know him but they know that he's had parents that neglected him and so he turned to drugs. However, he is 30 now and hasn't touched drugs in 7 years.

My parents think I just need a little time and I'll eventually break up with him, but I don't plan on it.

So this Thursday I have an appointment with a surgeon (I'll be having an operation on my eye soon) and I haven't told him yet because my mum wants to be there too. Should I tell him? Is it a good idea for him to be there while my mum is there?

  • I don't know what to do, help?

For 8 months I've been seeing this guy that has kids. He's everything I've wanted and I'm crazy about him. However, my parents know nothing about him accept for the fact that he has kids and they won't accept it. They cry about it, threaten to kill themselves, scream, verbally abuse me and all because I want to do what makes me happy.

I love my parents so much but I love my boyfriend too, I don't know what to do. Tonight my boyfriend took me home and my parents came out and yelled at him, they were calling him a bas.tard, an a.sshole, telling him to **** off and he was nicely but firmly telling them that I'm an adult and they should just respect my decisions. But my parents didn't care, they went back in the house away from him and told me that if I want to still be with him, that I have to get out of the house and never talk to them again.

I honestly don't know what to do...I'm soo stressed out and confused and miserable to be honest.

What do I do ? I can't lose my parents

    If it helps, I'm 22

  • Want to spend the night with him, but how?

My boyfriend is 29 and I'm 22, he has 2 kids but has never been married. My parents only know this about him and they won't accept him. I've told them we broke up, but I'm still seeing him without them knowing. People are always telling me that I'm too weak, and I need to stand up for myself, but the real reason I'm so scared is cause when I don't do what I'm told my mum threatens to kill herself. So my problem is, my boyfriend is having an operation on Wednesday and he's really scared so I want to spend the night with him but since I live with my parents, I have no idea how to do this. Please don't tell me I'm old enough to make my own decisions cause im going to tell them eventually but I need to be financially secure first in case they kick me out of home.

So how do I spend the night with him without my parents knowing ?

  • Parents shelter and control me, what do I do?

My boyfriend is a great person, there are soo many things I love about him! The thing is, he has kids and my parents won't accept it. They have this way of making me miserable when I don't do what they want and for some odd reason I love them too much and don't want to hurt them by rebelling. I just don't know what to do about this. Tonight they pissed me off so much - I was out with friends and my mum texted me saying I have to be home at 9pm and then my phone battery died and when I charged it I got a message saying "if you don't come home on time you know what will happen. No more excuses I'm sick of it" - this happens every time I go out but now since they won't accept my boyfriend, it's really aggravating me. An example of controlling or manipulating is my mum always threatens to kill herself if I don't do what She wants. What do I do?

By the way, I'm 22. How can I keep my boyfriend, my social life and my parents?

My boyfriend is 30 and I'm 22, he's got 3 kids and my parents are so against it even though they have never even met him. They have been crying and telling me I'm breaking their heart, I've tried hard for a long time but I can't do it anymore. How do I break up with him? What do I say ??

  • Should I continue this relationship or end it?

My boyfriend is 30 and I'm 22, he has 2 kids but they live with their mum in a different state so he only sees them on holidays. My boyfriend was engaged to her for a while and then found out that she cheated several times.

I've never met the kids and my boyfriend has assured me many times that I am not obligated to them in any way.

So all this considered, is it a bad idea to continue this relationship ?

  • What should I do?

My boyfriend is 29 and I'm 22, I've only been officially dating him for 7 months but I believe he's perfect for me.

My parents looked him up on Facebook and found that he has 3 kids. They are all with the same person and the reason he's not with her anymore is cause she cheated numerous times.

They haven't even met him but already hate him, they have been screaming at me everyday since they found out. I told them I've broken up with him but we're still friends and they're yelling at me for that too. They said if I want to take things further with this guy that they won't be in my life anymore.

I don't know what to do, this is killing me

  • Parents hate him. What do I do?

My boyfriend is 29 and I'm 22, he has 3 kids but was never married. But in every other way he's perfect. He's extremely intelligent and is always educating me on things I had no idea about. He's very protective, not in a jealous way eg. He won't leave me alone if he drops me off somewhere at night. He makes me laugh a lot, he's very responsible and what I love most about him is how he tries so hard at everything he does and always succeeds.

My parents searched him on Facebook and found that he has kids, before even meeting him they hate him. They keep telling me to break up with him, everyday they yell and scream at me. I've told my parents we broke up and they think they can stop me from being friends with him now. It's getting really hard to see him in secret now .. What do I do??

  • It's breaking my heart my parents won't give him a chance?

I already asked this question but there were other details that I forgot to include.

My boyfriend is 29, when he was 15 he was addicted to ice (the drug) and he's been clean since he was 20 so he looks older than he is, I and my friends both think he looks in his mid 30s but my parents think he's 40. He has 2 kids that he doesn't live with but sees on their school holidays as they go to school in another state.

He was going to meet my parents for the first time on Saturday, but before they even talked to him they looked him up on Facebook and found that he's had 2 kids. They're completely against it now, they're telling me they're gonna kick me out of the house if this continues .. However when I left they made my brother call me back.

I've told them I'm going to break up with today (I'm not, I thought if I tell them in a few months they might see that he means a lot to me and they might give him a chance)

They're treating me like such a child right now and they always have but this has just ridiculous, I don't feel that they should dictate who to date

So what do I do?? How can I go out with him without them knowing? I am not allowed to drive (medical thing) so that makes things A LOT harder

  • He has kids? Parents hate him before meeting him?

I'm 22 and my boyfriend is 29, though he looks older and my parents don't believe that. He is the perfect guy, I've been seeing him for 6 months and everything was great. It was only yesterday that my parents met him, they immediately believed he's 40 and wouldn't believe anything I said. They also looked him up on Facebook and found that he has 2 kids with another woman that left him after 7 years for another guy. They never even have him a chance, all they said to him was hi how are you

My parents are screaming and crying every day and telling me I have to break up with him now. They're actually TELLING me to do it, not even advising me.

I don't know if what I feel for him is love but it's the strongest feeling I've ever felt.

    What do I do?

  • How do I make him look younger?

My boyfriend is a great guy, he's intelligent, wise, funny and I'm sure my parents would like him ...the thing is, he's 30 and I'm 22. My parents are going to hate that. I've told them he's 26. Now I need to try to make him look younger for when they meet him! So what makes a guy look younger?

  • He's been in jail, but such an amazing guy?

About 3 weeks ago I met a great guy, after a week he told me that he's been in jail for breaching a restraining order (his ex wife got the restraining order and he breached it cause he wanted to see his kids).

I told my best friend about this cause I was unsure if I should continue a relationship with him .. She was so against it and told me to stay away from him. I ignored her advice and kept seeing him, now I'm really falling for him and I don't know what to do. If my best friend knows about it, she will tell my family and I couldn't take it of they hate him. I wanted to lie to her and tell her it's not the jail guy, but she knows his name. What do I do? Or what's a good lie?
