How can I remove the oil residue from my deep fryer?

My fryer has a thin, sticky layer of oil on it that I cannot get off. I've tried soaking the parts in soapy water, and even used a steel wool pad, but I can't get it clean.

Have you considered a degreaser or orange juice it contains Dilimolene (think its spelled that way)

Any citrus fruit juice is good to remove this type of oil residue form the frying pans. Use vinegar or lemon juice to remove this. Add some drops on the affected part and keep it for a some time and wash with lemon based dish wash bar

Thanks for the advice, I tried these and they didn't work, so I just threw the fryer out. To fatty anyway. ;)
