Has anyone ever had a successful relationship with someone who was overly jealous?
I'm not really asking for horror stories. I'm sure I'll get them anyway, but I really want to know if they have managed to have a successful relationship. By jealous I mean that simple old friends will say they think my natural hair makes me cuter and that I shouldn't recolor it... By this comment... The guy will make comments that scream jealousy. We aren't even together yet. But, simple friends who aren't even ex's can't compliment me.

yes the relationship will work BUT and a big but is, can he trust you to let these comments go? maybe he is insecure is likes you so much that he is just scared to lose you!
talk with him and tell him your feelings about him and the loyalty you plan on bringing forth to him.

Personally I don't think they work. But more importantly one day you were going to be miserable if he is that insecure already I can't imagine what it will be like in the future.
