What is that illness where you sometimes run back in the house because you think you forgot something?

Like most of the time, you turned every thing off and did not forget anything important. And other times it's a disaster because you get all the way to where you were going and find out that you forgot something important. That keeps it going. If there was never anything forgotten to do, consciously one could decide that it was a waste of time to double check sometimes.

Thinking about other things while leaving the house so not paying attention. Then when everything is set and back in the moment, hoping I did not miss anything I did not pay attention to. Once I'm gone or in the car.

So... actually forgetting something or just feeling like you did, and compulsively going to check?

If the latter, I think you're referring to OCD.
