A strong fetch toy for my dog?

I have a GSD who loves to run and fetch. However she destroys every ball you throw to her before she brings it back to you. We have tried sticks, she does the same thing. My friend the other day took her out and thought cricket & golf balls would work.....she came home with a broken tooth from trying to mangle them. You throw a rock into the lake and she submerges her head to find it leaving us with an ear infection.

Does anyone have any idea of a fetch something she cannot destroy within 5 minutes.

Thank you

I had a female GSD that was the same way, at least about balls. I found ( at a pet shop) a VERY, VERY HARD SOLID RUBBER BALL that she never was able to destroy.

It was kind of funny, because she would give a look of irritation!!!!

No. I have always used tennis balls for my dog. They will last for a little while and then to replace them, a can of tennis balls is dirt cheap.

Don't let your dog play with golf balls or rocks. You know that she will jump into the water to catch the rock so you know that will lead to ear infections.

Something like this http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/23287?productId=167... Here's some other ideas http://www.unbreakoball.com/Top-Rated-U-S-Made-Dog... I have a 143 pound Newfoundland who loves to fetch and play tug with his Bumi toy. It's also warranteed for breakage so if your dog breaks it they will replace it once.

But you need to stop ALLOWING your dog to destroy balls/toys/sticks like that. Don't and your dog will end up DEAD when it swallows pieces of the toy. It could also end up with a perforated abdomen from a stick.

Remove all toys from your yard and in your home that your dog chews up and only bring one out when you are there to supervise. Have treats on you and throw the toy then give the "Fetch" command. If the dog starts to tear up the toy instead - take it from them and try again later. Soon your dog should learn that chewing them is NOT allowed and that she needs to bring it to you.

How long have you let this go on, though? The older she is the harder this will be to train out of her.
