As long as your friend doesn't live with you, you don't have to add him to the policy and the insurance will still pay if he gets in an accident.
So to directly answer your question, your insurance will pay for any damage he does to the car, minus the deductible.

If your car causes damage, it's your responsibility no matter who is driving. The only time you're off the hook legally is if someone steals your car.
If I let my brother, wife or buddy or whoever drive my truck and they get into an accident, they didn't just have an accident. I did. I'm the registered owner, so I'm legally responsible for my vehicle and any loss or damage it causes. That's the law, and it's the same all over the US and Canada. Not sure about Europe.
If your buddy is driving a lot, you'd be wise to let your insurance company know about it. I'm not saying they will or won't cover an accident if he's driving (that depends on the exact details), but it definitely will slow things down if they have to say "who the hell is he" and run his information.
If your insurer gets a claim report with a previously unknown driver driving, they'll need to verify his licence and make sure he's not someone they would have charged a fortune for or refused to insure. Remember, insurance companies are paranoid by nature and don't take anyone's word for anything. When your car is a smoking ruin sitting on a flatbed and you need to get to work, that's not a good time to hear the insurer say "we just need to verify the status of his licence, then we'll call you".

When anyone (except a member of the same household) drives an insured vehicle occasionally, with permission and has a valid drivers license, they will be covered by whatever insurance that has been bought for that vehicle.

tickets are given to the person driving. but your car its under your name not the drivers name and if your insurance its under your name that means its your insurance responsibilities to any damage done to your car and the other persons car. The person driving your car its not covered because your friends name its not in your insurance policy.

Assuming you have full coverage insurance then yes they will pay for everything except the deductible amount.
