Why do people think Atheists are immoral?

They're taught an endless stream of lies about atheists in their churches. I've never seen a group that could tell as many lies per day as the average believer can. Then they expect us to believe that they're moral. They lie, cheat, treat others badly, refuse to help the needy, treat the poor with contempt, then self-righteously claim to have better morals than atheists.

I don't fear God. And I do good because it is part of being a Christian and I don't hurt others because God's word tells me that if I kill someone, I will go to prison (the Law of the Land), so if you do have a code of conduct as I do, that is great but God's word tells us the following and that is why it is essential to believe and accept Jesus not matter if you are an unbeliever or an atheist. I do hope you read the verses as you deserve a Savior to reward you for you good deeds and to grant you and your family eternal salvation otherwise, you are lost even if you are a good guy/person. So please read and think about what God's word says to you on this day

Jn. 3:16-21

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

It's mostly because they can't fathom the possibility of getting morals from something other than their god. This is probably the case because they think they would do immoral things if they didn't have their belief in a god

"Right thing to do"

I think the main debate/argument is over whether or not "right" and "wrong" are things we are naturally born to know or things we are raised to believe in. Circumstance may dictate if something is "wrong" or "right", while different cultures probably have some kind of shared belief in such standards. You may think killing another human being is wrong, but given the right circumstance (like you are someone close is at danger), while you may still see it as wrong, instinct to survive and the "lesser evil" may come into play.

"Just because Someone doesn't follow a certain set of moral codes doesn't mean they don't have a moral code." --- You just pick and choose, huh?

The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.

I think it’s because the atheist governments in the 20th century were dictatorships and people confuse the hemoclysms with atheism.

well there are godly morals and manmade morals - and if yours are of the latter variety then hell will be your eternal home

I have no fear of God. He loves me!

I do, however, fear His wrath. It is the ONLY thing I fear in the entire world. I know He will never direct it at me. But, He is just and He WILL exact justice on those who have earned it.

Although you are atheist, you follow Christian morals...to love one another as you also wish to be loved.

God is never wrong. You ought to check out what He has to say about your words.

Because they would be immoral if they weren't afraid of god., given the chance.

Some Christians actually believe that they would be thieving raping pirates if they didn't fear Hell.
