Is the military the right place for me?
So I really just don't know what to do with my life. I am going into my junior year of college this fall as a chemistry major. I have a 3.3 gpa but I hate it. I really hate school all together. I really only went to make my family happy. I am a really active person and I like to play sports. I am really fit. I do like to think an I think i'm pretty smart, but I can't sit for very long. My only worry is that If I did something more active in the military I might be screwed when I get out. But I really don't know much about it. Is the military the right place for me? And if so, what branch? And don't just say the branch that you are in because of pride haha.
My school doesn't have ROTC on campus
Also i really do like to learn I just can't sit down all day

The military is not the same today as it was years ago.If you consider yourself smart you may consider joining the Air Force and becoming a pilot. If you want to push your body to the limits join the Marines.
If you like fishing joined the Navy. But nowadays the rewards for serving are very few. Unless you plan on a 20 or 30 year career it's pretty much a waste of time. I thought of it being like prison without being locked up. The government owns you from the time you signed the line, till the time you get out. They will tell you how to cut your hair how to wear your clothes and when you can eat and when you can sleep. They literally take control of your life. You are no longer a human being you are a government entity. Your job is to follow orders and learn how to kill people. You may be bored in school now but three or four years in school you could be a doctor or a lawyer or a chemist there is no limit. But if you join the military those 3 or 4 years will go by and your whole life will have been put on hold for three or four years. The military is more strict today on drugs and alcohol than they were back in the 70s. When I served it was all about pitchers of beer and coffee. You may not be able to sit very long now, but if you join the service you might find yourself trapped and unable to get out. You don't join the military and decide to quit after a couple weeks if you don't like it you are literally trapped in it until your contract is up.If your desire is to serve and protect your country, that is a good thing, but it is not a game. When you join the the military they mean business. You may consider ROTC while you are in school. Not only will this give you an idea of what the military is like but it will also gain you rank if you decide to join. Just to give you a idea from someone who has been there. Good luck

Well if you don't like school you probably won't like the military as you have to learn and follow orders. How about you try ROTC in your school as a start.

Finish your degree, it will broaden your opportunities even if you join the military afterward.
Navy and Air Force will probably make better use of your college/chemistry smarts than the Army/Marines.

If you are this far in school and doing this well, I recommend you finish and graduate even if you do not like it. This will be a big plus for you in any future employments.
